About

Purpose

The Reach Foundation and the accompanying Reach Scholarship were created to provide graduating high school students in New Bedford, MA with financial support for post-secondary education. The Reach Scholarship targets accomplished students pursuing a career that is mindful of bettering our society and our planet. Such a career path may take many forms and we continue to be inspired by each new year's recipients and their ambitious plans.

History

Start Small, Dream Big

The Reach Scholarship was founded in 2015 and initially began as Tyler and Ansel sending a payment over Venmo to a recipient selected by New Bedford High School. Since then, the Reach Foundation has:

  • Become a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit and a registered public charity in MA
  • Raised over $30,000 in funding
  • Provided scholarships to 10 recipients

Team

Ansel Duff

Ansel Duff

Ansel was proudly born and raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Having attended New Bedford’s public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, he studied Mechanical Engineering at Harvard and graduated in 2015. Ansel has worked in financial services in New York City since graduating college.

Tyler Wilkinson

Tyler Wilkinson

Tyler is a New Bedford native and graduate of New Bedford High School. He received a B.A. from Boston College in International Relations and Film studies , an M.A. from University of Chicago in Critical and Continental Political Theory, and is a Fulbright Scholar having completed one year of study in Lyon, France. Today, Tyler lives in Quincy, MA and works for a labor union located in Boston.

Kathryn Duff

Kathryn Duff

Kathryn is a proud resident of New Bedford and an active contributor to the city's vibrant historical landscape. She is an architect by trade and the founder of studio2sustain inc, an architecture firm and consultancy focused on sustainable development. Kathryn is Chair of the City of New Bedford Planning Board and a member of the WHALE (Waterfront Historic Area LeaguE) board of directors. Kathryn earned a B. Arch from Syracuse University, a Masters of Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and attended the Cleveland Institute of Art.
